Product Management & Strategy

Striving to Build Products People Love

I have spent decades working with great teams to design, build and launch software products. Through my successes and failures, my approach has been refined into what I call “Aspirational Product Design”. The idea is, rather than building product and then trying to convince people they want it… we instead design the product so that its relevance and value are instantly obvious to customers. The result is a product they naturally find compelling.

The intent of this website is to share and discuss this approach with other Product, Marketing and Engineering professionals. I am on a mission to directly and indirectly help build products that people love.

Product Consulting

Helping you build solutions that effortlessly compel your customers

As a Product Consultant, I help teams in their early and strategic product efforts. These include the development of new products, productization of technology, and enhancing existing products so they better resonate with customers.

I bring decades of experience, along with the lens of “Aspirational Product Design”, to help clients build solutions that their customers will love.

My empathetic nature allows me to create an actionable understanding of what is truly important to people. My inventiveness (13 patents) helps my clients innovate in a customer-centric way.

Aspirational Product Design

To craft products customers love, we start by uncovering what is truly most important to them. This includes their aspirations, and how they want to be seen by others. We are then able to do the heavy-lifting of connecting their aspirations and priorities to the value-add our technology/product provides.

Armed with this knowledge, we can design, build and launch product which people will effortlessly find relevant, compelling and will ultimately love.

About Me

My experience spans almost all aspects of software product development. The latter part of my career being focused on product strategy, management, design and promotion. During this time I have invented, led the development of, and launched numerous software products.

I have also been a cofounder, or early team member, of some very successful companies. Those include PTC, SolidWorks and Desktop Metal.

I think of myself as being both an empathetic and inventive product person. I have a number of patents to my name, and I tend to innovate in a user-centric way. It is this perspective that “Aspirational Product Design” originates from.
